After tough sledding at EURO 2024, Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane intends to get right back into it — for club and country.

The soon-to-be 31-year-old, who earned a share of the Golden Boot at the tournament despite managing injury issues, is far from international retirement. And he has looked to one global footballing icon for inspiration.

From the Telegraph, via @iMiaSanMia:

Harry Kane is not expected to give any consideration to retiring from international football and will instead use Lionel Messi as inspiration as he looks to bounce back from another final defeat with England

Sources close to Kane have completely dismissed that theory or the idea that he could consider retiring from international football. They point to the fact he has just come off his best personal goalscoring season with Bayern, in which he netted 44 goals.

While being “heartbroken” by the latest final defeat, Kane is expected to be even more determined to help England to a first major tournament success at the 2026 World Cup and beyond that.

Messi’s quest for World Cup glory finally succeeded in 2022, when the Argentinian superstar was 35. Kane will hope he doesn’t have to wait quite as long.
