CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ohio State officially offered four-star defensive tackle prospect Brayden Parks on June 12. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound beast from Brother Rice High School in Chicago received the offer following a recruiting camp.
“My experience with Ohio State has been great,” said the 2027 recruit. “When I went to camp in the spring, Coach (Larry) Johnson wanted me to earn an offer. After camp in June, I met with Coach Johnson and Coach (Ryan) Day. It was great to work with them.”
Parks is the No. 26 defensive lineman and the No. 234 player nationally in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports composite rankings.
“On the field, you’re truly talking about a 300-pound athlete, not just a defensive tackle,” said Brother Rice coach Casey Quedenfeld. “If we wanted to, we could put him up at running back. He is very athletic and a quick-twitch guy with heavy hands. He has a shot to play on Sundays.”
The Buckeyes’ offer comes nearly two weeks after Big Ten foe Oregon offered Parks on May 30.
“Watching the Big Ten expand and grow over the last couple of years has been exciting. Seeing some of the best players in the NFL come out of the Big Ten recently is like seeing them as role models,” said Parks.
Parks is stacking up on his offers. The Chicago native has been offered by most of the Big Ten schools, with Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, and Iowa being the most notable.
“It’s a blessing and I am grateful to be in this position. Not too many people are in the position that I am in,” he said. “The recruiting process is fun and stressful, but that’s what comes with it. My family is very excited for me, and they are helping me as much as possible and keeping me on the right path.”
“He is living every kid’s dream right now,” said Quedenfeld. “He is going to be able to choose the school that wants him and that he wants back. It is a reciprocation of relationships. Brayden is just looking for an opportunity.”
Parks, who is going into his junior year of high school, is relishing the time he has before making a decision.
“I haven’t put a list together yet,” he said. “Ohio State is one of the top schools that have offered me. I just have to put it all together between relationships with coaches, and what my family thinks is the best school for me.”
