Ten Pound Poms has returned for its second series with its star-studded cast
Ten Pound Poms aired its first series last year on BBC One and is now returning for its second series after its original success.
The series follows a group of Brits as they leave post-war Great Britain to embark on a life-altering adventure on the other side of the world.
Ten Pound Poms is written and created by the BAFTA award-winning Danny Brocklehurst (Fool Me Once, Ordinary Lies, Brassic) and is made by Eleven (Sex Education, Red Rose) for BBC iPlayer and BBC One in a co-production with Stan, which airs the series in Australia.
Series two sees the characters as they head into 1957, with nurse Kate Thorne (Michelle Keegan) trying to forge a future for herself after series one followed her journey to Australia in search of her son, Michael.
For the Roberts family (led by Faye Marsay and Warren Brown), Terry is determined to find stability and put down roots, whilst Annie rediscovers herself and uncovers exciting opportunities Down Under.
With each determined to make Australia everything they hoped it would be for a fresh start, will Kate, Terry and Annie finally get a slice of the Australian dream they were promised?
Robbie (Nic English) share a tender moment with Kate as they rekindle their friendship, whilst a new character – the unscrupulous landlord Benny Bates (Marcus Graham) – is introduced and has some words of wisdom for Terry. Will he bring sunshine into our returning characters’ lives… or just more drama?
The end of season one left a lot of unanswered questions, and writer Danny Brocklehurst teased: “We had to continue those stories forward and deal with them satisfactorily. But we also wanted to bring in new stories… We meet a new family who kickstart the new story that thrusts you across the next six episodes.”

Where you’ve seen the cast before:
Michelle Keegan is best known for her role in Coronation Street as Tina McIntyre from 2008 to 2013. Since then, she’s had starring roles in Our Girl as Sergeant Georgie Lane, ITV’s Tina and Bobby as Tina Moore, and Erin Croft in Brassic.
Faye Marsay might be recognised by fans as The Waif in the fifth and sixth seasons of Game of Thrones. She also took on the role of Candice Pelling in Fresh Meat.
Warren Brown is no stranger to the small screen, and can be recognised for various roles such as Donny Maguire in Shameless, Andy Holt in Hollyoaks, and DS Justin Ripley in the BBC crime drama Luther.
Ten Pound Poms season 2 will air on Sunday 9th March at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer. Episodes will continue weekly.
