After Orbán’s visits with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, which he did not coordinate with the EU’s 26 other national leaders, many foreign ministers have been looking for a way to avoid becoming props in what they believe could be another Orbán propaganda show.

The European Commission even announced it would hold its own foreign ministers’ summit in August instead of traveling to Budapest for Orbán’s event.

But the boycott will not affect the EPC summit in November — which takes place just two days after the United States presidential election, in which Orbán’s ally Donald Trump could regain the White House.

The 2025 EPC summit will be held in Albania.
