Lamine Yamal’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has reportedly been busy pestering Barcelona to give the teenager a pay rise due to his fine performances for club and country.
The forward signed a new contract until 2026 back in October, but Mendes thinks it should be restructured already to reward Yamal for his contributions, according to Catalunya Radio.
Mendes thinks that because Yamal is already a guaranteed starter, and has now won a European Championship, he should receive a higher salary.
The report adds that Barcelona are willing to “make a financial effort” when Yamal signs his next contract in 2025 that will ensure everybody is happy.
The Catalans are thought to already have an agreement in place for Yamal to stay at the club for the next eight years.
Indeed Deco has already said they plan to renew his contract next year when he turns 18 in a bid to secure his long-term future.
Barcelona’s finances may be an issue, but the club will be well aware that money spent on Yamal is likely to prove a rewarding investment.
