A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Argentina stated on Saturday that the recent remarks by departing US Special Envoy for Latin America Mauricio Claver-Carone regarding the China-Argentina local currency swap cooperation were filled with tired clichés of the Monroe Doctrine. As is well known, the China-Argentina local currency swap is a mutually beneficial cooperation independently decided by two sovereign states, and the US has no right to interfere. If acting according to America’s “orders” is considered so-called “freedom,” then that would, in fact, be the greatest unfreedom, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson advised the US to focus on contributing constructively to other countries’ development rather than sowing discord in their practical cooperation. Farewell, Claver-Carone, the spokesperson said.
