JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office recently teamed with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission to remove a 10-foot, approximately 400-pound alligator who decided to camp out roadside double-yellow line, according to a Facebook post.
Deputies dubbed the monster reptile, “Pepe the Gator’’ before having it removed from Old 30 Road late last month.
In one picture, two deputies sat atop the gator while another worker, presumably from NC Wildlife, prepared the animal for removal.

The Sheriff’s Office playfully reported the gator was “cited for Suspicion of Being a Dinosaur Without Proper Papers, Public Loitering with Intent to Sunbathe, and Obstructing Traffic” on its Facebook page.
The Sheriff’s Office and NC Wildlife safely relocated the alligator, which had its jaws taped shut for safety reason. The animal was not injured during removal.
In a later Facebook post, which acknowledged the gator removal story went national, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office reported “Pepe has resumed his typical activities in local swamps, marshes, and ponds!!!”
