Costco is making headlines for a big ol’ bucket of food again.
A recent post in the subreddit r/Costco brought to everyone’s attention that 60-pound buckets of light amber honey were being sold at their local Costco for $114.99.
“Winnie the Pooh has entered the chat,” commented one Redditor.
As a point of comparison, the USDA’s National Honey Report for May 2025 showed that a pound of light amber honey was being sold by beekeepers for $1.91 to $2.00 a pound, meaning that this bucket actually falls in line with the wholesale price you’d pay directly to a bee farm.
This unbeelievable deal had people commenting with plenty of questions.
“What exactly does one do with 60# of honey?” asked one Reddit user.
“Well, it doesn’t spoil?” another asked.
Although honey doesn’t spoil, Sioux Honey, the company behind this bucket, suggests keeping your golden goo in an area that will stay at average room temperature and not to refrigerate it or it will crystalize. The company also says you can freeze your honey, but that would make dispensing it very difficult.

How Much Honey Is Too Much Honey?
According to the Costco website, the serving size of this particular honey is 1 tablespoon, which works out to a whopping 1,296 servings for the whole bucket at 60 calories per serving.
Since honey is considered an added sugar, the American Heart Association advises that it should be limited to no more than 100 calories per day for women and 150 calories per day for men.
In January 2024, dietitians told TODAY.com that if you’re not consuming any other sugar, 2 to 3 tablespoons of honey per day should be the maximum. If you go by that recommendation, this bucket can provide you with 432 to 648 days’ worth of honey, unless you bathe in the stuff like Cleopatra was rumored to.
