While Ireland supporters are understandably devastated that they will not get to see their team play at this summer’s World Cup, they can take some solace in the fact that they should get to see the side in a major tournament sooner rather than later.
Euro 2028 will come to these shores in just over two years time, with Ireland having an excellent chance of being at the tournament.
They will take part in the qualification process as normal, although there will be two place reserved for any of the four host nations that fail to qualify via that method. As a result, Ireland will be guaranteed a place at the event if two of England, Wales, or Scotland qualify.
Tickets for the six games in Dublin will be a hot commodity in any case, with UEFA set to release some excellent news for fans.

Irish fans will welcome Euro 2028 ticket prices
The Athletic are reporting that UEFA are set to confirm the prices for Euro 2028 tickets, with prices to start from just £26. That will be the starting price for ‘Fans First’ tickets, with category three tickets from £52. It is thought that around half of all tickets sold will fall into one of those two categories.
There will be around 1.2million total tickets in those categories for the tournament, including the games at the Aviva Stadium.
This move will be welcomed by supporters, especially when compared to the ticket prices for this summer’s World Cup in North America. FIFA have been widely criticised over their extortionate pricing model employed for the tournament, one which will force fans to fork out thousands in order to attend all of the fixtures involving their team.
The Aviva Stadium will host six games at the tournament, with four group fixtures, as well as a last-16 and quarter-final tie to be played at the Dublin 4 venue. Should Ireland qualify, all three of their group games would be played at home.
