Carlo Ancelotti has stated on multiple occasions that Real Madrid are closed for business between now and the 30th of August – the date when the summer transfer window closes. However, a market opportunity could see club officials scampering to add to the first team squad.
Specifically, Real Madrid are keeping an eye on any possible centre-backs that they could sign. Their leading target is Aymeric Laporte, who is desperate to end his time in Saudi Arabia in order to joining the reigning Champions League champions.
However, Real Madrid would only sign Laporte if he arrived as a free agent. The player himself would be prepared to terminate his contract, but Al-Nassr have no plans to allow him to do so. Instead, they’ve set a minimum €20m asking price for any club that wishes to sign the Euro 2024-winning defender, as per Rudy Galetti.
🚨💰 #AlNassr are still open to evaluating offers for #Laporte, but will not consider bids <€20m.
📈 After his excellent performances at #EURO2024, the 🇸🇦 club has further increased the price tag.

This would mean that Real Madrid do not sign Laporte this summer. It could be a different story for city rivals Atletico Madrid, as they are also keen on the former Athletic Club and Manchester City player – he’s on their shortlist, but for now, is not a priority.
