Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez has joined up with Spain’s Olympic squad after helping to win Euro 2024 with the national team.

Lopez was part of the successful European Championship squad, although his only appearance at the tournament came as a substitute in the win over Albania.

He’ll now be hoping for more minutes at the Paris Olympics after joining up with the squad – just days after celebrating Spain’s win in Germany.

Lopez will link up with Barcelona team-mates Pau Cubarsi and Eric Garcia for the Paris Games for fixtures starting next week.

Spain kick off their campaign against Uzbekistan on July 24 and then go on to play the Dominican Republic three days later. A final group game comes against Egypt on July 30.

Barcelona will be hoping the trio come back from the Games unscathed after being hit by injuries over the summer already.

Pedri has been sidelined with a knee injury, Ronald Araujo will undergo surgery on Monday, while Frenkie de Jong’s ankle problem remains a concern.
