Sister Bay had 19 hits and took advantage of six errors to beat Institute 25-9 Friday night in Door County Baseball League action.

 

The Bays scored at least three runs in five different innings, including five in the third, seven in the fourth, and six in the seventh. The Cubs’ offense wasn’t bad either, starting the game with a 3-1 run lead after the first inning thanks to RBI singles by Arthur Hocevar and Nick Peterson. The Cubs would also post two runs apiece in the fourth and sixth innings, but the deficit already stood at double digits at that point.

 

For the Bays, Tom Sawyer and Spencer Krause each had three hits and four RBI in the win. Casey Weddig, Rylan Caldecott, and Carl Burgess also had two RBI performances. Sawyer Johnson joined Sawyer and Krause with three hits while nine of the ten players recorded at least one hit in the game. Krause earned the win on the mound, allowing six runs (4 ER) on seven hits while striking out four.

 

For the Cubs, Josh Pflieger, Frankie Ash, Jaeger Brusky all had two hits in the loss while Peterson and Juston Williams each had two RBI. Sam Zirbel took the loss for the Cubs, allowing nine runs (8 ER) on 11 hits while striking out two.

 

The two teams combined for 10 errors in the game, leading to 10 unearned runs between the two staffs.
