Michelle Keegan returns to screens tonight (Sunday, March 9) for the highly anticipated second series of BBC One’s Ten Pound Poms. The drama follows Kate Thorne (played by Keegan) and a group of Brits who have left post-war UK in favour of a new life in Australia.
Following the success of the first series in 2023, the second instalment revisits the characters in 1957 as nurse Kate tries to forge a future for herself after her journey to Australia in search of her son. However, Michelle’s memory of filming the drama is vague as she admits: “I don’t even know what I did yesterday.”
The star, who is expecting her first child, confessed: “I wrapped on this a year ago, so it’s really hard to rack my brain about what happened.
“I don’t even know what I did yesterday. It’s the same every single day — once I finish the day, it’s like a new day and I can’t remember the day before.”
Michelle’s husband of nine years, Mark Wright, travelled to Australia with her to film the second series. She added to Radio Times: “Mark was with me the whole time and we really enjoyed it. I soaked up as much as I could; we went to Palm Beach where they film Home and Away, Hunter Valley, which is the wine country and to the Sydney Opera House.”
The couple, who announced their baby news in December, are preparing for their new arrival this spring.
Last week, Mark shared his feelings about becoming a dad for the first time as the due date draws near. The former Strictly Come Dancing star told the Daily Mail: “I’m extremely excited. I can’t wait for it to happen. I’m ecstatic.”
It comes after the soon-to-be parents were rocked by a terrifying raid on their £3.5 million Essex mansion earlier this year.
It’s understood that the celebrity couple was shaken awake when four culprits smashed a patio window, triggering their home security system and prompting an urgent police response.
Miraculously, the intruders fled empty-handed within minutes, thanks in no small part to quick-thinking Mark, who rose to defend his heavily pregnant wife from the threat. The former TOWIE stars protective instincts kicked in as he and Michelle barricaded themselves in a bedroom amidst the chaos.
Insiders said that upon sensing danger, protective soon-to-be father Mark’s priority was to safeguard Michelle and their unborn baby.
From behind the safety of their locked bedroom sanctuary, the reality TV favourite is said to have confronted the invaders with courageous shouts, effectively thwarting the potential theft, reports The Mirror.
“His first thoughts were for Michelle’s protection and he acted swiftly,” a source revealed to The Sun. They further added: “It was a traumatic experience for both of them but they are relieved that neither of them were injured.
“Mark did the sensible thing and stayed with his wife to make sure she was ok and they waited for police to arrive before leaving the room.”
