Dana White is willing to listen to an argument that Alex Pereira is a better pound-for-pound fighter than Jon Jones, but refuses to accept Islam Makhachev being at the top of the list.
In recent times, the UFC President has gone above and beyond to compliment ‘Bones’ as much as possible, but it appears he’s got a soft spot for ‘Poatan’ too.

Dana White is adamant Islam Makhachev is not the UFC pound-for-pound number one
Having proven his credentials in the cage beyond doubt, Islam Makhachev has cemented his status as the greatest pound-for-pound fighter on the planet.
With sensational grappling skills, honed through years of competing in sambo, the Russian has proven a dominant force in the sport, claiming victories over Dustin Poirier and Charles Oliveira.
But while fans and journalists alike are willing to give Makhachev credit for his achievements inside the octagon, Dana White is insistent that he’s not the best mixed martial artist in the promotion.
The UFC CEO does not believe the lightweight champion has been impressive enough inside the cage to compete with Jon Jones or even Alex Pereira.

At the post-Power Slap 9 press conference, White said: “Now, if you guys argued with me and said, ‘We think you’re wrong, we think Alex Pereira is the number one and Jones is number two’, I could probably live with that.
“I know it sounds like I’m s****ing on him, but I’m not. I love Islam. He’s a great kid, he’s a hard worker, he fights and fights everybody. I’m just being honest.
“If you look at Pereira, he moved from middleweight to light heavyweight and has been absolutely dominant a weight division higher. He’s even considering going to heavyweight.”
Dana White says he’s given 9-0 MMA star who invaded UFC 308 press conference a fight date
Yesterday, Ilia Topuria and Max Holloway exchanged insults at the UFC 308 press conference, in a successful effort to build hype for their collision.
However, while the pair certainly went above and beyond in the trash-talking department, it was an unknown 9-0 fighter who really stole the show.
Making the most out of his opportunity on the mic, the 9-0 mixed martial artist pleaded with White to get a shot in the UFC.
Incredibly, the President of the world’s premier mixed martial arts organization agreed to give him a chance to earn his opportunity, revealing he’s already given the undefeated competitor a fight date.
