Bringing home an additional dog can be a huge decision, regardless of how small the new dog is. Just ask @thesaintsandponcho, an adorable family who just added 2 whole pounds to their massive pack.
Two larger than life Saint Bernard siblings are the heart and soul of this family, but on August 6, they met a tiny puppy who would make a huge impact on their lives. Meet Poncho!
The 2-pound Chihuahua puppy had no idea what he was in for when his new dad, Zack, brought him home, but in typical Chihuahua fashion, he was ruling the roost in no time at all.
What an adorable little puppy! Poncho fits perfectly in his dad’s hand, but the bigger relief came as soon as they saw he fit perfectly in the family, too. Some tiny dogs would be intimidated by such massive fur siblings, but this spunky guy had no problem standing up for himself right away.
“So glad the new boss is settling in ok,” one commenter joked. LOL—it’s so true! Poncho may be the size of the Saint Bernards‘ noses, but he has the confidence of both of his big siblings combined.

From day one, this sassy Chihuahua wasn’t afraid to put his fur siblings in their place. With his huge personality, there’s no way he’ll get left behind or left out in this adorable family.
One of my favorite details about this fur family is their new addition’s name. Anyone would need a Poncho with that much Saint Bernard slobber around!
Tiny Dog Syndrome
Tiny dogs like Poncho tend to thin that they’re massive dogs in small bodies, but why is that? It can be a cute quirk, but it can sometimes be based in fear or self-defense. Millenia ago, this could have been a survival tactic for small wild dogs, but now, its only benefit is that it’s cute and entertaining.
Whether or not a small dog acts reactive or over-confident, a little obedience training can go a long way in keeping them from acting out dangerously. Just look at Poncho! He was nervous on day one, but after no time at all, he was just one of the guys.
