Let’s first look at the Tesseract, a maxi-scooter with a sharp, futuristic design that bundles a host of advanced technologies to appeal to young and tech-savvy riders. With the Tesseract, Ultraviolette is entering India’s fast-growing electric scooter segment.

Ultraviolette offers three variants of the Tesseract: 3.5, 5, and 6. These numbers denote the energy storage capacity of their battery in kWh. The company employs a 10 kW motor in the 3.5 variant and a 15 kW motor in the 5 and 6 variants. With the battery pack fully charged, the Tesseract covers a distance of up to 162 km in the 3.5 variant, 220 km in the 5 variant, and 261 km in the 6 variant. The company says the electric maxi-scooter fast charges from 20% to 80% in less than 30 minutes, and it claims this model has a top speed of up to 125 kph.

The Tesseract is the world’s first electric scooter featuring an integrated radar and dashcam. Two radars, one at the front and one at the rear, give the Tesseract an understanding of the surroundings and serve its various driver assistance functions, such as Blindspot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Overtaking Assist, and Collision Alerts. ‘Omnisense’ mirrors with integrated multi-colour LED displays and a 7-inch TFT touchscreen display the ADAS warnings.

Ultraviolette equips the Tesseract with connected vehicle functions like Remote Lockdown, Fall and Towing Alerts, Crash Alert, Daily Ride Stats, and Advanced Ride Analytics. The company also mentions 14-inch wheels, dual projector headlights with floating DRLs, and a 34-litre under-seat storage area among the highlights.

In the base configuration, Ultraviolette offers the Tesseract at 145,000 Indian rupees (1,524 euros). Moreover, it plans to sell the first 50,000 units at a special price of just 120,000 Indian rupees (1,262 euros). The company received 20,000 pre-bookings within just two days of launch. It will begin deliveries of the electric maxi-scooter by early 2026.

The electric motorcycle Shockwave joins the portfolio

While the Tesseract aims at commuters, the Shockwave is an electric enduro motorcycle targeting enthusiasts. The company says it will give riders the same excitement as an old-school two-stroke enduro motorcycle. The Shockwave features 19-inch spoked wheels with a 90/90 R19 tyre in the front and 17-inch spoked wheels with a 110/90 R17 tyre in the rear. The electric enduro motorcycle has a 37 mm cartridge-type suspension offering 200 mm travel in the front and a mono-shock absorber offering 180 mm travel in the rear. A 270 mm front disc with an axial-mounted dual-piston calliper and a 220 mm rear disc with a floating single-piston calliper make up its braking system.

Ultraviolette uses a 10.8 kW mid-drive motor and a 3.5 kWh battery in the Shockwave as standard. The enduro model tips the scale at 120 kg, achieves a top speed of 120 kph, and travels 165 km on a full charge. The company has priced it at 175,000 Indian rupees (1,840 euros), but it plans to sell the first 2,000 units at a discounted price of 149,999 Indian rupees (1,577 euros). Ultraviolette received 1,000 pre-bookings for the Shockwave within just 24 hours of launch. It plans to kick off deliveries of the new electric motorcycle by early 2026.

Currently, Ultraviolette sells only two premium, performance-oriented electric motorcycles in India, namely the F77 Mach 2 and F77 SuperStreet. The company offers the F77 Mach 2 even in Nepal, Germany, and Italy. It also plans to enter Turkey soon and is eyeing Southeast Asian markets as well.

By 2028, Ultraviolette aims to start selling at least 100,000 EVs a year in the domestic and overseas markets. The company plans to invest up to 100 million dollars (approx. 92 million euros) by 2028-2029 and utilise this capital to expand its product line-up, manufacturing capacity, and retail presence.
