Live market snapshot

The converter uses the latest available Exchange Rates UK FX snapshot and displays the current update time in UK time.

02

Mid-market benchmark

The main result is an indicative mid-market exchange rate used as a neutral benchmark, not a guaranteed bank, card, cash or transfer-provider rate.

03

Direct, inverse & cross rates

Where available we use the pair rate directly. Inverse rates are calculated from the reciprocal, while derived cross rates are used where a direct pair is not available.

04

Market hours matter

Foreign-exchange markets trade through the global working week. When markets are closed, the latest available rate remains indicative until active trading resumes.

05

Calculation before rounding

Conversions use the underlying rate before display rounding. The page then formats rates and converted amounts to practical decimal precision for readability.

06

Why customer rates differ

Banks, card issuers, travel-money firms and transfer providers can add exchange-rate margins and fees. Use the margin calculator above to estimate that difference.
