It has been revealed that a Manchester United star is ‘looking elsewhere’ in order to get himself minutes as a move to a European giant has been described as ‘almost inevitable’ – and TEAMtalk can support those claims in part.

United’s summer was an intriguing one. They made four major transfers – Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Senne Lammens – while also allowing some stars leave given they were surplus to requirements.

But one of the biggest calls was keeping Kobbie Mainoo at the club.

Reports suggested he wanted to leave, at least on loan, given he was being handed very few minutes by Ruben Amorim. That came amid interest from Napoli, Real Madrid and even rivals Manchester City – the latter confirmed by TEAMtalk sources.

But Ruben Amorim did not want to let go, however, he has not given Mainoo many more minutes since the summer window closed.

As a result, TuttoMercatoWeb reports the United midfielder is ‘looking elsewhere’ to ensure he doesn’t miss out on England’s World Cup squad.

Indeed, they report the likelihood that in January, Mainoo will ‘reiterate even more insistently’ his desire to play at a club capable of guaranteeing him more playing time.

Napoli would reportedly be among the frontrunners to revive their interest – doing so is reportedly ‘almost inevitable’ given the presence of former Red Devils Rasmus Hojlund (on loan from them) and Scott McTominay at the club.

Mainoo future up in the air – TEAMtalk sources

TEAMtalk suggested at the end of the summer that Mainoo could still look to move on if he wasn’t given more minutes.

And the only game he has started so far this season was the embarrassing loss to League Two Grimsby in the League Cup.

Insider Dean Jones revealed that if Mainoo was not given a decent run out against Sunderland, he’d begin to seriously consider options away from United.

From the start against the Black Cats, Mainoo was on the bench, so the hopes of him remaining at the club might well be fading.

Indeed, it might well be the case that he ends up an Napoli in January.

Man Utd round-up: United want Bayern Munich star

An insider has confirmed that United are interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic.

However, they will have competition from City, where he is “even higher” on their list.

Meanwhile, Antony has hit out at the “rudeness” shown to him at the end of his own time at United.

And insider David Ornstein is adamant that there are currently no plans to sack Ruben Amorim at United.

How much is Mainoo worth?
