Serie A giants AS Roma reportedly reach a preliminary agreement to sign Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, who has become surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is reportedly edging closer to leaving the club in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old is considered surplus to requirements at the club, having not played for the Red Devils since 2023 when he fell out with former manager Erik ten Hag.

Sancho spent the last season on loan at Chelsea, but the Blues decided to pay a £5m penalty fee to get out of their £25m obligation to buy him.

The England international has been reportedly linked with a move to a host of clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, but it appears that he is heading towards Italy.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Roma have made a bid worth around £20m for Sancho, and the Red Devils are considering the offer.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Gialorossi have reached a preliminary agreement with the Red Devils over Sancho’s transfer.

The report claims that talks on Thursday night saw a breakthrough in negotiations, where Roma will sign the player on loan with an obligation to buy.

The Serie A giants, owned by the Friedkins, would pay just £20m to make the move permanent.

Sancho is on a £250,000-per-week deal at Old Trafford, which is due to expire at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Roma have apparently offered him a five-year deal worth £75,000-per-week, which is short of Sancho’s £115,000k-a-week demands.

The former Manchester City academy graduate made 83 appearances for United, scoring 12 times since his arrival in 2021 from Dortmund.

The Red Devils are prepared to take a big loss on him, and they want to get rid of him. However, Sancho could wait to see if Dortmund make an approach for him in the coming weeks.

United are also reportedly looking to offload the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, who is being linked with a move to Chelsea.
