A multimillion-pound revamp to boost a town’s appearance and increase access for walkers and cyclists is set to go ahead this autumn.

The final plans for Camborne town’s renew scheme have been approved and work is expected to begin in October.

Under the proposals, there will be extended free on-street parking, a new zebra crossing and more seating on Trelowarren Street and Commercial Square.

The project is part of the Town Investment Plan, which was awarded £23.7m in Town Deal funding for in 2021.

Plans include an improved pedestrian crossings throughout Trelowarren Street and the installation of a new zebra crossing in Fore Street.

There will also be extended on-street free parking at the top of Trelowarren Street from 30 minutes to an hour, paving repairs in Commercial Square, the installation of enhanced lighting and CCTV and the provision of cycle parking.

A community drop-in session is set to be held at Create CIC between 10:00 BST and 18:30 on 3 September, when residents can learn about planned roadworks and traffic management arrangements during the construction period.
